When it came to choosing a ranfla to build for a hobby, Joe
Casillas didn’t go for your ordinary hard top Impala.
Instead he wanted something that would turn heads and at the
same time earn him the respect on the streets.
Joe started by purchasing a 1961 Chevy convertible Impala
from Fat Boy Felix. It would cost him a pretty penny, but
the cost would not stop there. The car was purchased for $25,000
and Joe would sink in another $30,000 just to have it the
way he wanted it.
Purchasing the car in mint condition would have anyone wanting
to enjoy the car right away. But not Joe he wanted to build
a car that would quickly take first prize trophies wherever
he went with it.
He started by taking the car to Sick Ass Custom where Vince
Gonzales would go to work on it spraying an Orange Kandy paint
that would give it that badass glider affect. Before the clear
was added, homie Dragon would lay some murals of demons, skulls
and wicked pin stripping that would give the car the perfect
name the “Wicked One.” As the car was getting
painted, Joe had the 383-stroker motor rebuilt and detailed
to go with the car’s new face-lift.
A-arms, Steering linkages were sent out to Moreno Polishing
to get them chromed and polished. Right after the paint the
car would take a trip to Colin Bros Upholstery where Lupe
Colin would customize the interior with a tan color material
giving it that clean and sleek look.
Then Joe would go to Cool Design to purchase a set of triple
gold 25th Anniversary Dayton that would give it that perfect
match with his kandy paint job. Seeing the way the car was
coming out he couldn’t go without seeing the car lay
on the ground so it was then taken to Pit Stop where Dirty
Shon would apply an air bag system letting the car lay on
the ground hitting side to side and all the good stuff streetlowriders
do. After the car was almost done joe needed that perfect
sound coming out of his ranfla so he had a Pioneer deck, kickers
and a SS Autteck installed. Thirty thousand dollars and eight
months later is the result of a real showstopper. As a true
streetlowrider that Joe is, he loves to burn rubber and is
not afraid to whip it. So next time you see this ranfla en
las calles or at a show stop to check out the details because
man this ranfla has our two thumbs up. Joe Casillas would
like to give a special thanks to wife Pauline Casillas, Vince
Gonzales, Talley, Lupe Coline and Custom Stereo mike and Richard
for their help and support. |
