Dream to Reality

Sabes el carro down el calle in the neighbors driveway up
on blocks with no back window or registration. Yeah you’ve
seen it. You’ve probably even had a few laughs at the
owner’s expense on your way to work or school. Saying
to yourself that if it was you, you wouldn’t let that
pearl go to waste. Well there’s a ride under all those
rust flakes bro. That’s what the wise vato says. It’s
like that old Stephen King flick with the old rusted out Plymouth
that hunts down unrighteous vatos and demonically possesses
its owner. Fortunately for Mike Denzler the name of this car
isn’t Christine. True to the life of his 65 Impala,
Dream to Reality is what he chose to call it. Although like
most of us who take on a project like this, possessed wouldn’t
be too strong a word, que no.
It took Mike six long years from start to finish to get his
old “rust-bucket” show ready but the homies of
Saratoga never even knew what was in store. That’s because
the unveiling wouldn’t happen until our first Salas
show last year (March 2003) where let me tell you mouths fell
to the pavement. At that show our luscious Streetlow mamacitas
were parading in the sun but still had to take a backseat,
(sorry girls), to this cherried-out lo lo with its sleek lines
and eye-popping, candy-red blast of paint. Under the hood
a rebuilt 327 done by Mike himself while he had the body and
frame restored to Beyond immaculate condition by TDK Auto
Body. Pinstripes, chrome and gold engine and undercarriage
components are part of what make this Impala a low-rider worthy
to carry on the prestigious name of the Luxurious Car Club.
Not to mention the four showtime pumps. Super-sideways, up
and down holla out! British Wire Wheels supplied 13 by 7 Dayton
Soles and looks suave con essos white wals. It looks sharp.
Notice all that gold trim on far out places like on the headlight
trim.
Golden Plating of Santa Fe Springs deserves Mucho respeto
for their stylish contribution. If you’re lucky enough
to catch a ride you’ll be sitting in comfort. Especially
on the customized leather done by M&M leather clean and
smooth.
It takes a lot of work and money to transform a $500 “rust
bucket” into what you wee here. Mike told us he dropped
several g’s into it. No need to doubt it man. A ride
so fine it makes your mouth water. The heads turn and turn
again at each show. “dream to Reality” has won
“Best of Show” at all SLM shows except at our
first Salas show and I think our judges must have spent too
long in the blazing sun spying too much of that eye-candy.
No sweat because Mike Kenzler’s Dream has many more
events to conquer. Mariessa here believes this too. She’s
in love. That’s why she’s pressed so beautifully
all over it. She wanted to pose for this car. If you were
at our last show this March you may have seen her. Turning
heads in a cropped T-Shirt that barely covered her essence.
See more of her and coverage from Salinas 2004 in this issue
and on our website.
Mike knows people need people and that’s why he would
like to thank his boys at Luxurious Car Club, Juan Serrano
at Golden Plating and everyone else who helped turn his dream
to reality. Also special thanks por su familia for being so
supportive. If you haven’t yet layed eyes on this car
check out our Frisco show at Candlestick July 25. |
