In life we make a lot of decisions, some were glad we made
and others we regret. A few years back John Jordan sold his
’64 Chevy Impala SS, a decision he regretted as soon
as he handed over the keys. A while had passed when John found
an all original ’64 SS in Carmel, CA. The Impala was
in immaculate condition but it would take a while for John
to persuade the owner to sell. A few months, $8,000, and a
drive to the Monterey Bay later, John would once again be
the proud owner of a six four.
The ’64 had the original 327 with only 80,000 o.g. miles
and with all the chrome sill in good condition John knew he
had found his white pearl. With the car being in the Central
Coast all those years and all the salt from the Pacific ocean
eating away at the car’s paint, he knew one of the few
alterations he was going to do was paint his new ride. He
took it to Illusions Body and Paint where they sprayed it
with a Glacier White. John then lowered his ride four inches
in the front and back, while the car still flosses on the
o.g. SS hub caps rolling on 14” white wall tires. The
next step john took was to hook up a clean stereo system to
compliment his ride. He hooked up a Sony CD head unit with
an EQ that controls two 8” kicker subs, two 7x10 Kenwood
speakers for the highs, and two Kenwood amps which allow the
oldies John bumps to be heard blocks away. With a customized
’53 Chevy Pickup 5-window sitting in his garage and
a ’53 Chevy Suburban under construction, John knew he
wanted a clean ’64 without too many modifications. Besides
lowering the car, the stereo system, and the 12” glass
packs the six four is completely stock and John feels that
is one of the last stock ’64 Impalas on the streets.
Being that John is not new to the game, he knows that you
don’t have to have a full street custom car to be on
the boulevard, you just got to have the love of the lifestyle
to be a true StreetLow Rider. |
