The Pride of South Side San Diego. Big Homie Robert Carrillo
and his 38 Plymouth cruise the streets of sunny S.D. daily.
“Just because you got a kandy paint job and a little
bit of chrome underneath don’t mean you can’t
drive it,” says Robert.
It all started back in February of 2000, when Roberts Dad
gave him this sick 38 as a gift. At the time it was an unpolished
Diamond. Robert quickly went to work on his car thinking he
could build it with only $5,000… He soon found out the
paint and rims alone could be $5,000.
Being a newer member of Amigos car club S.S. Robert had some
hook ups. Like the paint was done by and older member Mr.
Vargas. An Oriental blue was sprayed with some areas straight
kandy and other areas like the finders with lots of flake.
Another Long time member of Amigos car club Victor Cordero
hooke dup some crazy murals of an Aztec Warrior and Pancho
Villa on the inside of the front hood. Big Robert also had
another friend that installed hydraulics by the name of Carrot.
Carrot installed a set of two chrome pumps with three batteries
all wired up to a panel of four switches for that front back
side to side motion.
Robert likes to swerve the streets on 13/Sevens he wouldn’t
have it any other way. 100 spoke all chrome Roadsters with
the two ear prong, on a set of brand new 5/20s. The chrome
from bumper to bumper was done by pacific Plating. They didn’t
leave any molding untouched. The o.g. tuck and roll was done
by Cesar at El Jefe Upholstery. Finishing the car with a plush
light gray velour.
It was more like $14,000 to get this car shinning like a Diamond.
You must admit it was well spent… |
